A new date and kick-off time has been confirmed for Saturday’s abandoned DStv Premiership clash between Royal AM and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The clash at the Chatsworth Stadium was brought to halt after just 25 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch.
Masandawana remained in KwaZulu-Natal with the match set to be replayed on Monday, 23 May – depending on the weather.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmed that the match will start at 15:00.
The match – which was deadlocked at 0-0 at the time the players were called form the field – will not continue from the 25th minute.
Instead it will be restarted from scratch as the match commissioner confirmed the clash was abandoned.
The result is vital for Royal AM
The result of the match is of the utmost importance, especially to Royal AM in their quest for a CAF spot next season.
Victory would guarantee Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize’s team a place in Africa in the 2022/23 season, while a draw or even defeat wouldn’t rule them out completely as they do still have one further match – against Orlando Pirates – remaining.
Meanwhile, there is still no news at the time of publishing with regards to a replay in the AmaZulu v Golden Arrows match which was also called off at 1-1 on Saturday due to the same weather issue.
