Two men, an estranged son-in-law and a hitman, appeared in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrates’ court for the alleged murder of a Tshwane firefighter.
Frans Letshoalo (51) who is a taxi boss and the alleged hitman Sizwe Nhlapho (28) are facing charges of murder.
MOTIVE OF FIREFIGHTER’S KILLING STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION
Anna Mnguni was shot and killed outside the Tshwane Fire Department in Bronkhorstspruit on 16 February by unknown men at around 20:10
Because of this, Pretoria based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation started investigating, said Hawk’s spokesperson, Warrant Officer Bonnie Nxumalo.
On 20 May 2022, the Hawks’ Crime Against the State (CATS) and Tactical Operational Management Section (TOMS) as well as Head Office Crime Intelligence arrested the accused at their places of residence in Krugersdorp and Soweto.
They were then charged and taken to court. She further said the motive for Mnguni’s killing is under investigation.
The matter was remanded to 27 May 2022 for a formal bail application.
COLLEAGUES HEAR MULTIPLE GUNSHOTS BEFORE FINDING WOMAN DEAD
On the fateful day, Mnguni went out to meet a person she had an appointment with after answering a call from the said person.
Her colleagues said they heard gunshots moments after she had gone out of the fire station.
As soon as the colleagues recovered from the shock and fear of the gunshots they heard, the crew went outside in search of her.
Tshwane Emergency Service spokesperson, Charles Mabaso added that Mguni’s body was discovered about 100 metres away from the fire station. Adding that, Mnguni was found with multiple gunshot wounds.
A paramedic certified her dead on the scene.
MANHUNT LAUNCHED FOR SIBLINGS’ KILLERS
Meanwhile, in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, three family members were allegedly shot and killed by two unknown men Sunday night.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa said officers were called to Ekuphumleni, where they found the bodies of two men and a woman.
“It is alleged that two armed men in dark clothes stormed the home at 20:10 and fired several shots,”
The victims are 51, 53 and 57, of age. The police’s preliminary investigation revealed that they were siblings.
No one has been arrested.
