Six people shot and killed in Site C

The Western Cape police are investigating another mass shooting in Khayelitsha, Cape Town after six people were shot and killed on Sunday night, 8 May.

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa said Cape Town Organised Crime detectives have opened murder dockets for investigation in the wake of the incident.

Five yet-to-be-identified men were allegedly shot and fatally wounded on Sunday and a sixth person was declared dead at a Khayelitsha medical facility.

“Reports from the scene indicate police were called out to the corner of Maphongwana and Idada Street in Site C after 20:00 on Sunday evening where they found the bodies of the five victims who had been shot.

“A sixth person who had been rushed to hospital was certified dead on arrival,” said Potelwa.

No arrests have been made thus far and the investigation continues.

Earlier this year, five people were shot and killed in Endlovini, Khayelitsha on 14 March. A week later, on 20 March, six people were killed in Enkanini.
