Truck driver MISSING after accident that killed four in Gqeberha

A truck driver cannot be located by authorities following an accident on the Eastern Cape that took the lives of four people.

When and where did the accident occur?

Reports have revealed that a sedan collided with a truck killing all four people in the vehicle. The accident occurred on the R75 near Nelson Mandela University in Gqeberha.

Eastern Cape Department of Transport Spokesperson Unathi Bhinqose revealed that the truck was empty when emergency medical personnel arrived.

Investigations are ongoing as the truck driver has yet to be located

While police are investigating a case of culpable homicide, Bhinqose says it is not yet clear whether the truck driver fled the scene or went looking for medical assistance, reported SABC News.

“Sadly, four people have lost their lives in the accident that happened in the early hours of this morning, just outside Gqeberha near Missionvale campus. But to our surprise, when our officers got to the scene, the truck was empty. We don’t know whether the driver fled out of shock or to seek medical attention, but there was definitely not one in the truck when we arrive there”,

said Bhinqose.
