Wed 5 Jan – Sat 6 Feb, 2022 – 9-11pm (movies start at dusk)
Cost: $2 adult, $1 child unless otherwise stated
A great line up this year with a range of old and new movies with something for (almost) everyone.
We are following COVID-19 Protection Framework protocols for outdoor gatherings that allow groups of up to 50 in a single defined space if vaccine passes are not required. At each screening there will be zones marked out, with each zone big enough for 50 people to sit comfortably spaced.
Come on your own or with your family or with your group and set up your space inside one of the zones. Masks are encouraged, especially while moving to and from your zone and please do scan in. Please bring cash for the movie which will be collected in contactless ‘piggy banks’ this year, suggested payment of $2 each adult and $1 each child.
Come and join us in costume inspired by ‘Día de los Muertos’ (Day of the Dead) for the one-off screening of Coco at Washbourn Gardens; enjoy new venues and experiences in the collaborations with Riding for the Disabled (RDA) Whakatū and Te Awhina Marae, and come down early to the Isel Twilight Market each Thursday to sample some great food and browse the craft stalls.
Some of the 16 region-wide screenings will be shown with English subtitles turned on for the deaf, hard of hearing or English as a second language viewers (schedule being posted shortly). Most of the parks are flat, grassy surfaces and have accessible toilets, except Fairfield Park.
Gather a group, a picnic, perhaps put on your favourite onesie, and join us from 7:30 pm to play giant board games, enjoy the park and watch the region’s glorious summer sunsets.
Wrap up warm, and please pocket a torch to light your way home. PLEASE pack it in, pack it out and keep our parks beautiful!
If the weather is marginal, text ‘Is it on?’ to 021776623 AFTER 7:30pm on the night. Movies will not screen if it is raining.
*Subtitles for the hearing impaired noted by an asterisk.
